Prospects for the Clippers vs. the Pistons matchup
At bet365, my best bet is Pistons +2 (-110).
This is what I’ve determined
Already this season, the Detroit Pistons have twice as many wins as they had all of last year.
After losing both games against the Clippers in 2024–25, JB Bickerstaff’s team hasn’t beaten them since January 2019. Though the line has never been less than it is tonight, they have covered the spread in seven of their last eight encounters.
That being said, Detroit is currently riding high, having trounced every opponent they’ve faced by a margin of at least five points during their undefeated streak. Underdogs at home, the Pistons have an ATS record of 9-6.
The Clippers have also lost two games in a row since the All-Star break, so they aren’t exactly performing at a high level. As a road favourite in ATS games, Los Angeles is 4-7.
In tonight’s game against the Clippers, I think the Pistons have a real shot at breaking their losing streak and continuing their impressive basketball run.
Even though these two teams have played to low scores in previous years, recent patterns indicate otherwise. Over 224.5 points has been scored in seven straight games by the Clippers, while four games in a row by the Pistons have also gone over.
Statistically, both teams are in the top ten of the league in defensive rating and finish about where they should in terms of points per game. The total is quite low, though, so it’s reasonable to assume that defence will play a significant role in this game.
