NFL insider provides an unfavorable report regarding Jaire Alexander’s prospects with the Packers.

The Green Bay Packers have substantial tasks to address this offseason to advance effectively. They require an elite wide receiver and assistance in the secondary, particularly as it appears that great cornerback Jaire Alexander is departing.

Alexander has been selected for the Pro Bowl twice throughout his seven seasons in the NFL. However, he has encountered difficulties maintaining his fitness over the past two seasons and has recently been the focus of trade speculation.

The expectation is that a prospective Alexander trade would yield Green Bay a significant draft pick or two. However, NFL expert Jordan Schultz suggests that this may not occur, as it is now anticipated that the organization will ultimately release the 28-year-old.

If Alexander is in good health, he should remain a valuable player. Although participating in only seven games in 2024, he achieved seven passes defended, two interceptions, and one pick-six.

He has two years remaining on his current contract, which will incur a $25.5 million cap hit for the Packers in 2025. Releasing him would entail reducing a portion of his dead cap money.

This revelation suggests that the Packers may believe they cannot obtain an adequate return for Alexander in a hypothetical trade.
