Can you describe the 2024–25 FCS bracket?
There will be a 24-team bracket for the 2024–25 FCS playoffs, with the top 16 teams receiving seeding and the top 8 teams receiving byes to the second round. The first round will feature the other 16 teams from the 24-team competition.
To make sure that teams don’t have to travel too far, the first round matches are regionalized. The seeds from 9 to 16 play against the unseeds. The first round will also do its best to avoid pairing clubs from the same conference if at all possible.
There will still be a minimum bid requirement for game hosting. The higher-seeded team will get to host the first round if the seeded team submits a strong bid.
Which teams compete in the FCS Championship?
In 2024–25, the FCS Championship will be played by twenty-four different clubs. After the regular season ends, ten conferences (or conference alliances) will be automatically qualified for the playoffs. The other fourteen at-large bids will be chosen by the FCS Championship Committee. Along with selecting the top 16 teams, the committee will also give a first-round bye to the top eight seeds.
