The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced in a press release (Twitter link) that it has rescheduled three games and changed the dates of six others due to the recent postponement of four games caused by wildfires in Los Angeles and extreme weather in Atlanta.
Last Thursday’s Hornets vs. Lakers game has been rescheduled to February 19 at Crypto.com Arena, while last Saturday’s Hornets vs. Clippers game has been rescheduled to March 16.
And because of the bad weather in Atlanta last Saturday, the Rockets and Hawks game, originally scheduled for last Saturday, will now be played at State Farm Arena on January 28.
The NBA has indicated that a make-up date for last Saturday’s Spurs/Lakers game will be announced at a later date, but there has been no replacement date confirmed as of yet.
The NBA has also announced the following schedule adjustments to accommodate the rescheduled games:
The Bulls’ game against the Clippers, originally set for January 21 in Los Angeles, will now take place on January 20.
The rescheduled Wizards/Jazz game from January 23 in Utah to March 19 has been announced.
There has been a date change for the Jazz/Lakers game from February 11 to February 10.
There has been a postponement of the Wizards vs. Clippers match from March 16 in Los Angeles until January 23.
The Wizards’ and Trail Blazers’ game in Portland, originally slated for March 18, has been rescheduled to March 17.
The Utah Jazz’s game against the Clippers will now take place on February 13 instead of March 19.
The Jazz and Wizards will each have three games rescheduled to avoid back-to-backs and travel, even though they weren’t involved in any of last week’s postponed games.
It’s probably not a fluke that Utah and Washington are two of the NBA’s worst teams; the league probably didn’t want to mess with scheduling alterations that might affect playoff contenders too much.
