Things to Understand
The Knights’ chances of winning are little to none, therefore supporters will need a miracle performance from the team on Saturday. At McKale Memorial Center, they’ll be facing off against the Arizona Wildcats in a Big 12 matchup at 10:00 p.m. ET. With an offensive production of 78.5 points per game on the season, the Knights are coming in strong.
With a narrow escape, UCF defeated Colorado 75-74 last Wednesday.
With 22 points, six boards, and three steals, offensive star Jordan Ivy-Curry shot 7 for 13 in the game. This was a positive development as he struggled to establish himself against Kansas on Sunday. Darius Johnson contributed with 17 points, five boards, and four steals to aid the squad out as well.
On Tuesday, Arizona came into their game riding high after a four-game winning streak, but they ended up winning five in a row. Their 75-56 victory over the Mountaineers was decisive. The Wildcats have won seven games this season by a score of 19 points or more, a trend that has become routine for them.
A large portion of Arizona’s success can be attributed to KJ Lewis, who scored 21 points and added two steals while shooting 9 for 13. Despite Saturday’s slower battle versus Cincinnati, Lewis’ performance more than compensated for it. On the other hand, Jaden Bradley was a game-changer, contributing 15 points and five assists on 6-for-10 shooting.
With seven victories in their last eight games, UCF has been on fire as of late, adding a significant boost to their 11-3 record for the season. With the victory, Arizona’s record improved to 9-5.
With an average of 37.1 rebounds per game this season, UCF has been a dominant force on the offensive glass and that trend is expected to continue in this matchup. Still, Arizona hasn’t exactly been slacking off in that area, averaging 41.4. As the two sides fight to collect loose balls, we’ll find out who side comes out on top.
