The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford will play the 2024–25 NFL playoffs next weekend in a wild-card game against the winner of Sunday night’s Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game at Ford Field.
The Rams, who primarily used backups and benched Stafford on Sunday, fell to the Seattle Seahawks 30–25 at home, dropping them to the fourth seed. The 5-seed, the Lions-Vikings loser, will be their host. The Rams finished 10-7, and both teams are 14-2.
In a great wild-card game played in Detroit a year ago, the Lions concluded their 2023 season 24-23 after defeating a struggling Rams team 26-20 in overtime in Week 1. In Week 8 of this season, the Vikings were defeated by the Rams 30–20 on a Thursday night in Los Angeles. In 2021, the first season with quarterback Jared Goff and head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions suffered a 28-19 loss in their most recent trip to Los Angeles.
The Monday Night Football game on January 13 is most likely to be the Rams playoff game. The NFC 4-5 matchup has been the Monday night game for each of the three seasons since the NFL added a Monday night playoff game to its super wild-card weekend in 2021.
NFC seeds and schedule
Next week, the Buccaneers will host the 6-seed Washington Commanders after leaping up to the 3-seed.
Next week, the 2-seeded Philadelphia Eagles will take on the 7-seeded Green Bay Packers.
In the Divisional round on January 18–19, the No. 1 seed—the Lions or Vikings—will host the lowest-seeded NFC team left.
