Maliq Brown of Duke basketball seemingly re-injured his left shoulder during the first half of the top-ranked Blue Devils’ ACC Tournament opening against Georgia Tech on Thursday.
Brown participated for six minutes before exiting the court at the 4:58 mark. He promptly clutched his left shoulder while proceeding to the tunnel with Duke’s chief athletic trainer, Jose Fonseca.
Throughout the season, Brown has ranked among Duke’s premier defenders. He initially sustained an injury to his left shoulder at Virginia on February 17, missing four games before returning to play against UNC in the regular-season finale.
Brown was absent from Duke’s victory over Incarnate Word on December 10 due to a toe injury and subsequently missed four additional games in January because of a knee issue.
Duke was behind by 14 points against the Yellow Jackets when Brown sustained his injury.
