Kyren Lacy, a former LSU football player, is wanted for questioning in relation to a tragic accident that left one person dead and two others injured.

Former LSU football player Kyren Lacy is sought on a charge of negligent homicide following a fatal crash in Lafourche Parish, according to State Police on Friday. The department announced in a news release that troopers are coordinating with Lacy and his attorney for him to surrender.

The collision occurred on December 17, 2024, on Louisiana Highway 20 near Perez Lane in Lafourche Parish. Lacy, operating a 2023 Dodge Charger, “recklessly overtook several vehicles at an excessive speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane in a no-passing zone,” the statement indicated.

According to authorities, the driver of a northbound pickup truck veered right to evade a collision with Lacy, prompting the vehicle behind to take evasive action by crossing the centerline and colliding head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento.

Lacy, 24, circumnavigated the accident site without pausing to assist, notify emergency personnel, or disclose his involvement in the incident, as reported by troopers.

Herman Hall, a 78-year-old passenger in the Kia Sorrento from Thibodaux, was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers secured an arrest warrant for Lacy from the Lafourche Parish 17th Judicial District Court on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless vehicle operation.

Representative Zach Greenwell from LSU said, “We have no comment at this time out of respect for the legal process.”

The inquiry is currently in progress, according to State Police.

Lacy graduated in December and was not engaged in practices for the Texas Bowl at the time of the accident, according to LSU. Two days later, he issued an announcement regarding his entry into the 2025 NFL Draft. Lacy has exhausted all college eligibility.

Lacy was a three-star recruit from Thibodaux High School and commenced his career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He participated in two seasons prior to transferring to LSU. Lacy recorded 112 receptions for 1,692 yards and 16 touchdowns over three years with the Tigers.

Last season, Lacy set a new career best with 58 receptions for 866 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior at LSU. Lacy, being 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 213 pounds, was anticipated to be selected in the NFL draft. He accepted an invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl in February.
