On Monday, following Iowa State’s loss against West Virginia, Duke jumped up one spot to No. 2 in the AP Top 25 poll, while the Arizona Wildcats continued to garner votes this week, pushing them into third place.

After their January 7 victory over West Virginia, the Wildcats (11-6, 5-1) were awarded the 32nd-most points in the voting. Texas Tech, which defeated Arizona on January 18 (13-4, 4-2), was awarded the 26th-highest number of points.

As for other UA opponents this season, Kansas fell from ninth to twelfth at 13-4, 4-2, while Houston soared from tenth to seventh at fourteen-three, 6-0, and Wisconsin climbed from twenty-fourth to eighteenth at fifteen-three, 5-2. West Virginia (13-4, 4-2) re-entered at number 23, replacing Baylor (11-6, 3-3).

The Wildcats continue to enjoy high levels of support from computer metrics, as they now sit at No. 9 in Torvik, No. 14 in the NET, and No. 16 in Kenpom.

Big 12 honourees include Javon Small of West Virginia for Player of the Week and Keyshawn Hall of UCF for Newcomer of the Week.

In the final two minutes of the Mountaineers’ 64-57 victory over Iowa State, Small scored 12 of his 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds. In the loss to Houston, he added 13 points and 8 assists.

With 40 points, seven boards, and six assists, Hall helped lead UCF to a 95-89 victory over Arizona State. While no Big 12 player has scored 40 points in a conference game since Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham on February 27, 2021, he was the third-highest scorer for UCF in a Division I game. In UCF’s 69-68 loss to Houston, Hall registered 11 rebounds in addition to scoring the game-winning layup with 9.8 seconds remaining before the Cougars sealed the deal.

No Aztec has won a weekly award from the Big 12 thus far this year.
