Things to Understand
On Wednesday, the Nuggets will play in front of their home crowd, but a review of the odds suggests that they may benefit by playing at home. At 9:00 p.m. ET, they will welcome the Houston Rockets at Ball Arena, getting right back to business after yesterday’s game. A winning streak of four games is at stake for each of these clubs.
The Nuggets blew away the Mavericks 118-99 on Tuesday, thanks to a series of fortunate breaks. Although the oddsmakers were in favour of Denver, the gap was surprisingly large, suggesting that the team was underappreciated.
Jamal Murray had a fantastic performance, scoring 45 points on 18 of 26 shooting while also dishing out six assists and stealing two steals. A field goal percentage of 69.2% was also set by him, the best since February of 2024.
On Monday, nevertheless, the Rockets recorded their closest victory since November 10, 2024. They managed to hold on for the victory over the Grizzlies, 120-118. Despite falling behind 91-78 with 1:53 remaining in the third quarter, Houston rallied to earn a crucial two-point triumph.
Jalen Green scored 42 points for the Rockets in a phenomenal performance, hitting 13 of 18 shots. With his performance tonight, Green now has 30 or more points in five consecutive games.
The Rockets grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the game, putting them in top place in the league for offensive rebounds per game. The squad has now collected at least 14 offensive rebounds in five straight games, so that solid effort wasn’t unexpected.
The win extended Denver’s road winning streak to four games, improving their record to 24-15. Houston, meanwhile, has been on a roll as of late, winning five of their past six games to improve their record to 26-12 on the year.
Everything is pointing to a rout in this contest: The Nuggets are second in the NBA in field goal percentage and have been incredibly accurate this season, converting 49.9 percent of their attempts each game. But the Rockets’ situation is unique; they’ve only converted 44.5% of their opportunities this year. The Nuggets have a big lead in that category, so the Rockets will have to figure out how to come back in the game.
Last time these two teams met, in December of 2023, the Rockets beat the Nuggets 114-106. Does history always repeat itself, or can the Nuggets exact revenge for their loss? We’ll discover the answer very shortly.
