The Cowboys are projected to acquire a 1,233-yard asset for Dak Prescott with the No. 12 selection.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott experienced a subpar statistical season before to his injury in 2024. However, while observing the remainder of the Dallas Cowboys’ offence, it was difficult to hold him excessively accountable.

Aside from elite receiver CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys exhibited minimal offensive prowess, particularly in the initial phase of the season. The running game ultimately improved, but the passing game, save Lamb, was nearly abysmal.

Lamb recorded 1,196 receiving yards, while no other Cowboys player exceeded Jalen Tolbert’s 610 yards. In 2025, an improvement is necessary in the secondary role, whether it involves a receiver, tight end, or a pass-catching running back.

Given that most free agents have already been signed, the Cowboys will probably need to turn to the draft for a solution.

On Monday, John Kosko of Pro Football Focus forecasted that the Cowboys would select Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in his most recent 2025 NFL mock draft.

“The Cowboys possess numerous deficiencies, yet they have been devoid of a dependable offensive asset beyond CeeDee Lamb in recent seasons,” Kosko stated. “Introducing Warren, a multifaceted tight end capable of functioning in-line to assist in the running game and positioning wide to exploit mismatches against linebackers and safeties.”

Warren, 22, exhibited remarkable performance at Penn State this past season, amassing a school-record 104 receptions for 1,233 yards. He recorded eight receiving scores, along with 216 running yards and four rushing touchdowns, contributing to his remarkable statistics.

Dallas anticipated that Jake Ferguson would resolve their tight end position following his impressive 2023 season; instead, he regressed in 2024, concluding with fewer than 500 receiving yards. In fact, incorporating Warren could enhance Ferguson’s effectiveness in two-tight end formations, enabling both athletes to excel.
