Tonight, Arsenal will host Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final, with both clubs looking to take a 1-0 lead into next month’s return match.
Prior to last weekend’s trip to Brighton, Mikel Arteta’s squad appeared to have recovered its shooting form, with Gabriel Jesus scoring six goals in four appearances. Ethan Nwaneri’s solo effort was the lone bright spot in the final third, but Arsenal’s unusual lack of aggression led to a 1-1 draw.

Despite these setbacks, Arsenal have won all 13 of their matches in all competitions, so they will be eager to continue Arteta’s winning streak and finally secure some hardware.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have been sensational, winning six games in a row thanks in large part to Alexander Isak’s pinpoint attacking. Eddie Howe’s squad is aiming to reach the League Cup final for the second time in three seasons if they win, and the Magpies haven’t won a major trophy since 1955.
