Unfortunately, this is the second year in a row that Huerter has struggled to find his rhythm in Sacramento. Before this season, Huerter was a true shooter who had made 38.2 percent of his 3-pointers in his six-year career. However, he has only made 30.3 percent of his 3-point attempts. He hasn’t improved defence either. Although teams continue to guard Huerter as a player they must be loyal to, it can be difficult to have him on the court when he isn’t shooting well.

The Kings, however, have a great deal of depth at the guard and wing positions. They have Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox in the backcourt. Keegan Murray, DeMar DeRozan, and Keon Ellis have so far outperformed Huerter on the wing. Devin Carter, a rookie, has also joined the team. Before receiving $18 million the following year, Huerter earns $16.8 million. If he can return to his level from his first year in Sacramento and his last year in Atlanta, those are lofty numbers, but not all that horrible. Sacramento seems more interested in moving him in a basketball transaction than in simply dumping his salary. Can the Kings acquire a player who can shoot and defend in the frontcourt by combining a draft pick with Huerter?
